Kelley Girl Charters: A Panama City Beach Fishing Family Since 1943

Some fishing charters are a business. Others are a family tradition. This site celebrates local fishing charters doing great work, and one of our first spotlights goes to Kelley Girl Charters, a family-owned charter that runs private trips out of Captain Anderson's Marina in Panama City Beach.

According to the family's history page, it started in 1943, when Capt. Mark Kelley's grandfather, Arnold Peel, began commercial fishing in Bay County. Mark's father, Buddy Kelley, ran charters from 1963 to 1995. Mark started as a deckhand alongside his father, and today he owns the business and is its head captain. His son, Capt. Carson Kelley, is the fourth generation of the family on these waters.

What we look for

A charter you'll want to book again

The captains we celebrate run safe, well-kept boats, explain what you'll be fishing for and make the day fun for first-timers and old hands alike. Here's what sets them apart.

Licensed, experienced captains

We look for charters run by U.S. Coast Guard licensed captains with years of local experience, backed by mates who know how to help first-timers.

Clear trips and pricing

You should know the trip length, what's included, what you can keep and what happens if weather cancels, before you step on the boat.

They know these waters

The best captains know the reefs, wrecks and seasons off Panama City Beach, and they move until they find fish.

Safe, well-kept boats

Clean boats, good gear and safety equipment on board, with a captain who won't take you out when the Gulf isn't safe.
